The subject matter of the present invention are directed towards hybrid large area display involves integration of OLED technology and flexible pre-patterned substrates to create large area displays. The hybrid display device comprising: at least one organic light emitting diode (OLED) segment; and a pre-patterned flexible substrate. The OLED segment is integrated onto said pre-patterned flexible substrate using an interconnection technology for contacting at least an metal electrodes on said OLED segment. Such a hybrid display device will take advantage of uniform emission and large area scalability of OLED segments to allow modularity in design. There is sizable market potential for large area alphanumeric and dot-matrix displays in public spaces (stations, market, airports, etc). Currently, LED based large area displays are common, they are thick and opaque. Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) replacing LEDs brings several advantages have better quality uniform light without diffusers, thin form factor, possibility of transparency/flexibility, color tunability, easy change of design in production and large area segments.
