A Spring Induced Ornithopter Wing Design

Non-Confidential description of the invention

An ornithopter wing mechanism arrangement comprising of a straight leading edge spar which can be either straight or have a fixed bend angle supported by a hinge. It further consists of a trailing edge, a chord root, a membrane glued over the wing structure, at least two ribs with one end hinged to the leading edge and the other end attached to the trailing edge characterized in that: at least one spring in between two ribs in the trailing edge configured to induce flexibility to the ornithopter wing. The leading edge spar can be supported by a diagonal supporting strut when the ornithopter wing is very large.
