An Improved Tissue Engineering Scaffold and a Method for Fabrication Thereof

Non-Confidential description of the invention

This invention discloses a preparation method and application of a skin dressing containing carrageenan/agarose, it relates to artificial skin tissue engineering and remodeling of native skin for various applications. It discloses a method to prepare algal polysaccharide supplemented skin tissue engineering scaffold which closely resemble skin micro-environment of dermal layer of skin/innate extracellular matrix (ECM) of skin. A process of electrospinning is used to prepare cellulose acetate nanofibers and dip coating to prepare cellulose acetate nanofibers coated with kappa-carrageenan. Skin tissue engineering involves remodelling of native skin for various applications. Our natural algal polysaccharide based dermal artificial skin can be utilized as a substitute for animal testing, in wound healing and in high throughput screening of drugs and cosmetics.
