Antibacterial Platinum-N-Heterocyclic Carbene Compounds and Process of Preparation Thereof

A metal-based compound is designed that kills the drug resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a bacterial pathogen that causes simple skin infection to fatal septicemia. The antibiotic property of the compound has been validated both in vitro as well as in murine models of bacterial infection. This compound has the potential for treating infections caused by the drug resistant bacteria. The present invention relates to antibacterial Platinum-N-heterocyclic carbene compounds as antibacterial agent targeting drug resistant bacteria and process of preparation thereof. More particularly the present invention relates to olefin tethered Platinum-N-heterocyclic carbene compounds for treatment of patient suffering from the effect of drug resistant Staphylococcus Aures and other similar bacteria and process of preparation of such compounds.
