Elastomeric Biodegradable Antioxidant Polymer and Polymeric Film as Cardiac Tissue Patch and Thereof

Non-Confidential description of the invention

The invention is a process for synthesizing and evaluation of an elastomeric, biodegradable polyurethane polymer, wherein ascorbic acid (AA) is used as a chain extender that provides antioxidant properties to the synthesized polyurethane. Such polyurethane are cast into films which is biodegradable, biocompatible in nature and show intrinsic antioxidant properties, thus rendering the film suitable for tissue engineering applications where oxidative stress is a concern besides providing suitable mechanical stability.
