HA-CeO2-Ag v Composite for bone tissue implant

Non-Confidential description of the invention

The invention relates to HA-CeO2-Ag (Hydroxyapatite-Cerium Oxide-Silver) composite useful for bone tissue implant. It also discloses a reinforced biocomposite comprising hydroxyapatite sintered with cerium-oxide and silver nanoparticles. The biocomposite is an advanced bone-tissue implant having potential to reduce oxidative stress and thereby scavenging reactive oxygen species (free-radicals) in the region of bone injury post-implantation. The biocomposite of invention also promotes healing due to its proven efficacy for antibacterial and antioxidant activity along with cytocompatibilty. One of the objective is to provide an improved composite which is a biocomposite with antioxidant, antibacterial and cyto-compatible efficacies for the purpose of orthopedic applications such as bone tissue engineering.
