Self-assembling Hydrophobic Encapsulating Layer for Perovskites for Enhancing Water and for Enhancing Water and Moisture Stability

Non-Confidential description of the invention

The invention relates to organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite, more particularly to self-assembling hydrophobic encapsulating layers, for hybrid perovskites(CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite) to impart water and moisture resistance. Perovskite is a material having crystal structure identical to Calcium titanate. There is a need for a universal process that enhances water stability and moisture stability of CH3NH3PbI3 and other such perovskites, for them to have wide ranging applications that involve contact with moisture or directly with water. Here we achieve this by a systematic chemical modification approach, by forming a hydrophobic encapsulating molecular conformal layer over individual CH3NH3PbI3 particle.
