The India Agritech Incubation Network (IAIN) was created to enable innovators and entrepreneurs at early stage of their startup to develop solutions for small and marginal farmers. These solutions will solve issues like: reduction in input costs, improving productivity and quality at the farm level, reduce post-harvest losses, provide better market access, including value chain enhancements in Uttar Pradesh; with a primary focus on innovative technology solutions, affordability, accessibility, efficiency and user experience across the agriculture & allied value chain.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not in the initial stage, however in the latter stage you need to form a private limited company. IAIN is a search for innovators and entrepreneurs with transformative technologies that address a curated set of challenges faced by the smallholder farmers in Uttar Pradesh. Individuals, group of individuals, social enterprises and start-ups registered in India (whether for-profit or not-for-profit) are eligible to apply for the program.

Once the results are announced, the selected startups will be invited to get incubated at SIIC IIT Kanpur and hence they have to provide some general documents which can be summarised in the following checklist:

  • Application Forms of Incubatee Company for incubation.
  • Minutes of External Incubation Committee for incubation.
  • Charter Documents of the Company as mentioned below:
    • Articles and Memorandum of Association of the Company
    • PAN Card and Certificate of Incorporation of the Company
    • List of the shareholders on the letter head duly certified by one director.
    • KYC documents of the Directors (Aadhar Card etc.)
    • Latest Balance Sheet and Annual Return filed with the ROC (AoC-4 and MGT-7)
    • Latest Income Tax return filed with the Income Tax Authorities
    • Board resolution authorising the Director to sign the agreement.
  • Details of the project certified by any one of the Directors of the Company.
  • Founders and Shareholders Agreement, if any.
  • Valuation report of the Company, if available.

The funding under the IAIN program consists of legalities, product development expenses, funding for pilot etc. No manpower expenses (i.e., Salaries/stipend) will be borne under this program.

The Funding will be based on milestones and expected expenses during the product development. The funding will be given in tranches subject to completion and fulfilment of milestones.

The funding will be sanctioned under the norms of incubation at FIRST-SIIC IIT Kanpur. This can be referred from the given points:

  • The incubatee shall provide standard equity and revenue share as per the norms of FIRST IIT Kanpur.
  • The minimum duration of the incubation agreement shall be two years.

Yes you can, as long as the idea/innovation fulfils the criteria i.e., it is beneficial for the marginal farmers and that you can do a pilot in Uttar Pradesh, you can definitely apply with different technologies

Every year there is a call for application with defined problem statements, based on the needs of the marginal farmers. Start-ups from early and matured stage are selected after evaluation.

Under the IAIN program, the startup needs to be physically incubated at SIIC IIT Kanpur to avail the program benefits.
