Prof. Subramaniam Ganesh

Prof. Ganesh received his PhD from Banaras Hindu University in 1996. After a short postdoctoral training in the Indian Institute of Sciences, Bangalore, he joined the RIKEN Brain Science (Japan) in February 1998 as a staff scientist. He is currently the Deputy Director at IIT Kanpur, and a faculty at the BSBE department. Known for his pioneering studies on Lafora progressive myoclonic epilepsy and other neurodegenerative disorders, Prof. Ganesh is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences, India, and a proud recipient of the National Bioscience Award for Career Development for his contributions to biosciences in 2008.

Currently serving as the Professor In Charge, Innovation & Incubation, IIT Kanpur and a faculty at the BSBE department, Prof. Bandyopadhyay leads the activities of SIIC IIT Kanpur. He is also a nominated member of the National Startup Advisory Council of India. Prof. Bandyopadhyay conducted his doctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Umadas Maitra at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Upon receiving his PhD in 2002 he joined the laboratory of Prof. Clifford Tabin at Harvard Medical School for his post-doctoral research, and later the BSBE department at IIT K, in December 2006.
